Salt crystals and FINALS!!!!

Last week we put salt and water to see it form crystals. Yesterday we looked at our crystals and Mr. Olson gave my group extra credit for the good looking crystals. This week happens to be finals week and i have been studying really hard and then we get off for winter vacation!!! It already feels like friday but its only tuesday. this week happens to go so slow.

Mole week

This week we found out how much is a mole and it is a big number. Scientists used this number like we use a dozen. On block day we did worksheets to calculated grams to moles. Yesterday we played a timing game to find out how many tiny little hole punched paper would equal to a mole. We used a scale to measure the weight but we didn't have enough time to finish calculating it. We also watched a video of Mr. Olsen and another teacher, Curtis sing the mole song.

Attractive Molecules

This week during chemistry in our lab, we used a buret and had a stream of water flow. We charged a wand and put it near the water to see if the water is attracted to the wand. Some liquids was attracted to the wand and water is one of them.

Smell Lab

we smelled bottles and described what we smelled. There was fishy, minty, and sweet. and on that week we had only three days of school because we had thanksgiving holiday. I had a great long weekend!!!!

Lewis Dot Structure

This week in Chemistry lab, we had a worksheet and we had to fill it with pictures of molecules bond with each other. We also had balls and sticks to help us visualize the structure. Lewis' element symbols are based on the # of valence electrons.

properties of metal

This week in chemistry we did a lab involving melting a bobby pin and melting "Onion's Alloy" in water. we saw how reheating and cooling the bobby pin affect how it bends. We heated the metal in water on a hot plate and saw how it turned liquid in water.

Burning Wool

In Chemistry class during the lab, we burning wool. First we observed the wool before it was burned then we burned it and saw it turn into blue in gray and it had a bunch of sparks flying everywhere.

Visible Spectrum Lab

This week during Chemistry in the lab we looked through the Spec-20 and saw which colors are visible in the light and what colors we saw in the chalk after each color we recorded our data. After the lab we drew very colorful graphs and and answered some questions.

Flaming lab

On Tuesday we did a lab where we see the change in the color of the flame when we add some substances to it. It turned into many different colors and i thought the colors were so pretty. We also took a chemistry test called the nuclear chem, and it was hard for me. i thoufht i didn't do too well on it but i can always retake it!

Movie week

This week in Chemistry class, we watched a movie about E=mc2. It is mainly about Albert Einstein figuring about the equation E=mc2. We also looked through a packet about alpha and beta particles.

Today during Chemistry, we went to the computer lab to make a chart on our lab about Radioactive half-life simulation. At first the keyboard i was using was stuck so Mr.Olson help fix it and now i can tpye normally now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In chemistry last week, we went to the library to answer a worksheet about radioactivity. i worked with a partner and we spent most of the time on the worksheet looking through websites and answering the worksheet.

The test and dry ice

This week my chemistry class had a quiz and is gonna have a chapter 2 test and on tuesday we played with dry ice and it was so cool!!!!!

Element table

This week our labs are not very interesting. We answered worksheets by using the periodic table.

The Periodic Table

during this week in chemistry class we did alot of lads relating to the periodic table. We found out the patterns and how the table works. We sang a conversion song and made a video of it. it was very interesting and i enjoyed watching our class sing. My job was to record the video and i had fun doing it!!!

Measurement in Chemistry-lab

during chemistry class yesterday we did a lab on the pan balance. We all learned how to use the pan balance accurately. We measured a penny, nickle, marble, black rubber stopper, green rubber stopper, container of water, fishing weight, small test tube, small glass bottle, paper Dixie cup, and a plastic cup. first we predicted what is the mass or volume then we measured it. After we measured it, we did some math to see how many percent we are off on our predictions.

Penny Lab

Yesturday during chemisty class we turned pennies into "gold". It was a great experience to put pennies into zinc ( the pennies turn silver) and them to slighty heat the silvered penney under the fire and watch it turn "gold"!!!!!!!!

Goals & Passions

My first biggest goal is to graduate high school with a 3.5 average. During my years in high school i want to join sports like track or swiming and just fit in.I don't know what coolege i'm gonna go to college but i don't know which one i'm gonna go to yet. then i want to graduate from college and get a steady job those are my goals and i hope i can make them happen. I love to cook/bake, gardening, play basketball, swim, and run those are my passions!!!!
